  1. three years later and now we are in a mess, 37% tax and after 20 years of medical compassion with marijuana all dispensaries will be closing in July. All the people calling out Jodi were right, and now we get to deal with the mess that is 502. You can't even smell a bud without purchasing, this is a joke and they should be ashamed. The lessened sentence was worth it though right…

  2. True- florida & texas will be the last states to follow washington and colorado cause many old people are there, just wait for the flower-child generation takes their place, but pot should be monitored and treated like alchol…i don't want to be stuck in traffic behind a pothead or a drunk.

  3. All of you talking smack about i502:

If Democrats want the continued support of the people of the state of Washington, don't you think they'll think twice about interfering with a state law – that was passed by popular vote?

We have nothing right now. I502 is something. Since when is nothing better than something?

  4. Yea your right there are two different levels of thc but the one they are testing for does not decrease within a few hours, but more like a few days. If you a a regular smoker chances are you likely wont want to drive at all until at least 3 weeks.

  5. That sucks we dont have that problem down in Wa we pay 150-200 top shelf ounce and when it does become legalized do you think stores or whatever are the only places to get it? No there are ALWAYS going to be dealers that will have it at the same price as they always did

  6. when alcohol prohibition ended, u couldnt brew beer at home for a period of time. I-502 is just a start to make it less scary for the mainstream voters scared about the kids issue and the stoned drivers issue.

  7. Idiots! It's not about making a new law to smoke pot, it's about striking down an unlawful law which would never have been passed if the US Congress knew they were passing am unlawful law that was to destroy the most productive and globally useful plant in human history, but they were tricked.
Don't make new laws, abolish bad ones. Return the cannabis hemp plant back to it's correct standing of harmless production crop!
Lawful : Everything; unless causes loss, damage or harm
    Legal : Money scam

  8. What a strange thing to write. I was in Mass in 1999 where a guy with cancer was getting prescribed medicinal cannabis from the government. Was it stopped? Or, are you just trying to legalise smoking pot for pleasure?

  9. I am rooting for you and Marc, Jodie. But I completely disagree with your stance on I-502. Patients in this state have paid dearly to get where we are now. It will be a sad day when we are criminalized for driving using an arbitrary, unscientific and unnecessary 5 nanogram standard that will only prove we have THC in our system, not impairment.

And that's just the DUI section. Failure to include provisions for home growers allows the black market prices and international gangs to thrive

  10. John McKay to the Seattle Times said, "As my law-enforcement colleagues know well from chasing bootleggers and mobsters, this new regulatory and criminal approach will still require many years of intensive investigation and enforcement before organized criminal elements are driven from the vast marijuana market. DEA and its law-enforcement partners must therefore remain well equipped and staffed to accomplish this task"

Does that sound like legalization to you?

  11. John McKay to the Seattle Times said, "…we should give serious consideration to heavy regulation and taxation of the marijuana industry (an industry that is very real and dangerously underground). We should limit pot's content of the active ingredient THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), regulate its sale to adults who are dumb enough to want it and maintain criminal penalties for sales, possession or use by minors, drivers and boaters."

  12. John McKay to the Seattle Times said, "I DON'T smoke pot. And I pretty much think people who do are idiots. This certainly includes Marc Emery, the self-styled "Prince of Pot" from Canada whom I indicted in 2005 for peddling marijuana seeds to every man, woman and child with an envelope and a stamp. Emery recently pleaded guilty and will be sentenced this month in Seattle, where he faces five years in federal prison."

  13. The reason cannabis isnt legal is because the us economy will change rapidly. Pharma is going to lose money over this.So they bribe congress to keep cannabis as illegal as possible. There is a certain way people psychology works now a days – primarily they want you to have lots of money before they listen to you.
Canada uses cannabis to cure cancer. US denies it. Amazingly enough Canada's economy is actually in surplus. US should take up the example.
