When under anesthesia, you can’t move, form memories, or — hopefully — feel pain. And while it might just seem like you are asleep for that time, you actually …

They had to poke me multiple multiple times before finding a good spot to insert the iv needle
I’m 12 and I had surgery about 4 days ago. They injected it into me by the Iv that was already in my hand. As they were wheeling me into the room I said to my self “they will need a lot more to put me down” and then my last memory was me falling alseep as they were wheeling me into the room. Haha fun experience
kinda sucks how in my family anesthesia doesn't always work on some people, some of us wake up in the middle of operations. not sure if it works on me yet though
I went into surgery expecting to be told to count backwards, instead I started to feel weird because they had given the medicine and they hadn’t told me to count so I panicked a bit because I need routine and this was not, but then I panicked that they would know I was panicking and see me breathing weird and think I was weird so I held my breath to try to not show I was panicking and just before I was out all I remember was somebody yelling at me to breath
I've had one surgery, a field surgery. We didn't have time for Anesthetics, my neck is covered in scars now from when it happened. My surgeon was amazing though, didn't use force or have me held down or tied down.
I just googled something out of curiosity, and apparently something called "anesthesia awareness" exists; where patients under anesthesia may regain some levels of consciousness. It could be dreamy visions, or straight up being completely aware of your surroundings, but only immobile. Some people might even experience the pain, but are unable to communicate their distress. Fortunately, this is exceedingly rare.
I woke up once in the middle of a surgery as a kid and the doctors had my head opened up and I had a tube down my throat desperately trying to gargle and scream that I can’t breathe yelling for help, then I got knocked out back to sleep. Most terrifying muck up I’ve ever had…
Had surgery 2 days ago and going under was such a fun feeling. They gave me the “laughing gas” first and it feels like you float into this bright light and…..DARKNESS. Then you’re up. Best sleep you’ll have in a while LOL
When I had to get surgery on my shattered arm they gave me a small cup of liquid that I drank and after I drank it I was out in 3-5 minutes. Any idea what they gave me? It would be nice to know.

I never went into surgery in my life and for some reason this feels so scary 🗿
Omg i have my wisdom tooth surgery next month and i’m so nervous
And in the stone age they had… THE MEGA BONK
There sneaking drugs into my anesthesia no wonder I want more after after I wake up shaking
I’d imagine that dying would be similar to going under anaesthetic. One moment you’re there, the next you’re not

I had surgery multiple times but everytime i do i just go to sleep in the bed they bring you in meaning i still haven't "experienced" anasthesia
When i got anesthesia, they ask me where i go to school, they kept asking me until i just can said "huh?" then they told me to sleep 😂
